25 Days of Thanks Challenge: Day 2

I was so excited by the response I received yesterday as I started this challenge! Keep your thanks coming!

Today I am Thankful for...The Right and Privilege to Vote
Grandaddy at the Iowa Jima Memorial (Iowa Jima is where he served in WWII)
Today, I am thankful for my right to vote. The first time I voted, I was a senior in high school. I had just turned 18 about a week before. I remember going with my Grandaddy to cast my vote in the presidential election of 1996. It was such a proud day for us both. At the time, I just thought it was cool that I got to do something new that many of my friends weren't old enough to do yet. As the years have gone by, I have taken this right a little more seriously. I try to be a responsible and informed voter. I do my research on the candidates and amendments that are on the ballot. Thinking back on that first vote I cast, I know my Grandaddy is probably looking down on me from heaven with pride today as well. I am so thankful not only to have the right to vote, but to have had two Grandfathers who fought for me to have that freedom. I know it's just a sticker, but when I put on "I Voted" today, I can't help but be a little proud.

So how about you? What are you thankful for today? Join my challenge by linking up below. Check the 25 Days of Thanks tab at the top for rules and details.

  1. That's pretty cool about your step-dad. You don't see a lot of Looney's out there lol. My husband's family is originally from Virgina. I know my father-in-law has done a lot of research on his family.
