What child does not enjoy running and playing in a sprinkler on a hot Summer day? With school starting back, I realized today the hot summer days of 2010 are numbered. I began thinking of all that we would soon no longer be able to do with fall approaching and sprinkler time came to mind. With having a new little one to watch after this summer, we didn't get to do all of the things we wanted with our two year old and I realized today that she had yet to experience that simple pleasure. Before lunch, while my youngest was taking her morning nap and Elena was watching her hour of Sesame Street, I sneaked out into the back yard to fill the wading pool and set up the sprinkler. At lunch I told her I had a surprise for her. She was so excited to get to put on her bathing suit and splash around!

Isn't it life's simple pleasures that give us the most joy sometimes? I know that was the case today when I saw her little face light up. It made me so happy to know that I played a part in putting it there.
I love the photo of her at the end. Looks like a fun time!
